You will choose a novel or play to read from the Restoration period or 18th century. I have a list of texts to choose from at the end of the assignment description.2. Write a report discussing the following:* A brief biography of the author in the first paragraph.* A summary of the novel or play in one to two paragraphs. The summary should cover key details so the reader has a good understanding of the plot without having read the novel or play.* A discussion of the significance of this literary work. Here you should consider its contributions to English literature, any innovations in genre or literary style, how it reflects the Restoration period (or 18th century) and key features of its genre, the major themes of the work, and the writers use of significant literary devices, such as figurative language and characterization. This section of the report should be about 3-4 pages long to fully develop the discussion.* Select several passages from the novel or play that illustrates its significance. Explain how the passages illustrate the works significance. You may want to integrate supporting passages into your discussion of significance or discuss them after you establish significance.* Document sources with in-text citations and a Works Cited page using MLA format (eight edition). Let me know if you need a handout on MLA documentation. This should include the primary text (the novel or play) and any sources you consulted to construct the biography and literary significance. Note: If you are using factual information that is found in multiple sources, this constitutes common knowledge, and you do not need to document your source with an in-text citation. For example, biographical details of an authors life would constitute common knowledge. If one or more of your sources just mentions common knowledge, you should list that source under Works Consulted instead of Works Cited. Information that evaluates the literary works significance would be something you would need to document because it would not be considered factual information that constitutes common knowledge.
