Title: Housing Finance Authority of Broward County (FL) The Capstone Project for Leave a reply Title: Housing Finance Authority of Broward County (FL)The Capstone Project for this Integrative Seminar requires students to identify an existing public sector problem in a real-world setting, and then apply learned skills and research methods to propose a solution using Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Related, and Timely (S.M.A.R.T.) recommendations.Students will be working independently on a capstone project addressing a current issue, in this case, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, throughout the semester, culminating in a final research term paper and oral presentation.As a result of COVID-19, this class was recently adapted and students will now collectively examine the public sector/service response to the global pandemic. Each student will identify and select a specific and unique public or nonprofit organization or entity (MUST be Federal, State, or Local government, or Nonprofit/NGO).For example, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Federal), Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (State), Miami-Dade County Public Schools (Local), Feeding South Florida (Nonprofit).Student can declare their topics on a first-come-first-served basis in Module 1 Introduction Discussion Forum. Once a government entity or nonprofit organization has been declared, other students may not pick that exact same organization but may choose an affiliated one. For example, Student A selects the Miami-Dade County Office of the Mayor and Student B selects the Miami-Dade Police Department.For the capstone paper, students will individually prepare draft submissions of the keys sections of the paper. Students will provide background and context on the organization, research the organization and its response to the COVID-19 outbreak, develop a SWOT assessment identifying the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats, and finally, develop recommendations on how its public policies and services could be more effective, efficient, and equitable.Students should demonstrate content knowledge and critical thinking when identifying and analyzing relevant academic literature and proposing SMART recommendations.
