Rel 102 Final, Fall 2015
1. Torah – In three paragraphs, define cosmology and then identify the explicit (stated) and implicit (implied) cosmology in one of the following scriptural texts. You may use other scriptural citations within the Torah to support your cosmological argument, as well as references from Ceresko text or class notes. However, you should primarily use the stated scriptural text.
a. Genesis 2:4-25
b. Genesis 9:1-17
c. Genesis 22:1-19
2. Historical – Read Ceresko text, Chapter 15, pp. 183-192 and write a three paragraph essay outlining one of the following texts. Define the socio-economic situation, the major issues, and the historical context. You will not be able to cover the whole text in three paragraphs so pick a few concepts that you think are important. Hint: Look at Ceresko, page 381.
a. 1 Samuel 10
b. 1 Kings 21
c. 2 Kings 25
3. Prophetic – Using one of the following texts in five paragraphs, describe the historical context, socio-economic issues, and themes the prophet is using from earlier Israelite scripture. Do not outline the whole chapter for me, highlight a few key texts and interpret from there. Hint: the prophet may be citing from the Torah or Historical or earlier prophets but not the New Testament.

You may use other Old Testament and New Testament parallels that pre-date the gospel to support your argument but make sure that you are using the gospel as your primary source. Note: Don’t outline the scriptures for me but find two or three images, themes, ideas, etc. to elaborate on.
