The paper presents a critique of Stark Rodney’s article “secularization RIP.” It will focus on specific aspects of Stark’s argument. In so doing, it will explore some definitional issues about secularization, what it does and what it involves. Besides, the association between secularization and modernity as postulated by Stark will be analyzed. This will result into a critique of the author’s procedural approach to the link between science and secularization. Finally, the paper will focus on Stark’s orientations to the market models of religion that he believes in.
