After reading Chapter 5 in the course text compare and contrastthe similarities and differences between experimental andquasi-experimental designs. Describe the different ways in which anindependent variable can be manipulated. Demonstrate application ofthe scientific method and ethical principles by explaining whatdictates the selection of design (experimental versusquasi-experimental) and the type of manipulation used in a researchstudy. Finally give an example of a situation that could bestudied with an experiment or quasi-experiment and assess theappropriateness of one design over the other in light of practicaland ethical concerns.
