You may use any career pathway associated with either in-class speakers or those of your own exploration. Once you have settled in on a job, you must discuss the position with an employee within that area of the criminal justice field;

You will write one professional exploration papers; each will be 3-5 pages, 12 point font, Times New Roman, 1 inch margins, in APA format (no need to include abstract; references and title page do not count as part of the page count). This should be written in first person format.

Your paper should include the following:

Introduction

Introduce the career pathway, explaining the responsibilities of the positions within it. Include a thesis statement to provide a road map for your paper. (2-3 paragraphs)

Body Paragraphs

In these paragraphs you will summarize your discussion with the professional in the field. You should include their daily activities and responsibilities, and their pathway for how they achieved their position. You should then include a description of how the realities associated with their work match up with the expectations associated with the ideal definitions of the position.

Concluding Paragraphs

Here you should include your reflection on the position, about your assumptions associated with the position, and whether those assumptions matched the experience of the individual within the field with whom you spoke. Additionally, you should include any insights you might have gleaned that gave you clarity on this position you may not have previously been acquainted with. Finally, indicate if this has affected your own personal career pathway (it’s okay if it has not).
